Our Story
The idea behind this program came from my own home schooling experience. I was always searching for a plan for picture study and composer study. It seemed simple enough to do myself but I just never did it. I also wanted to use the classical style and Charlotte Mason's ideas for our art and music. I wanted all the great resources organized in the four-year cycle of history. I wanted it to be flexible and easy to use. I never found what I was searching for so I decided to do it myself!
This is the art and music appreciation program for busy people. We have done all the research and organizing. You are able to open our plan and offer a great program for your children.
How to Use the Harmony Fine Arts At Home Plan
The plan includes a week by week schedule, materials and supplies list, and an explanation of how to implement our suggestions.
Purchase the books from our website directly, borrow them from the library, or use online resources given in the year plans.
After you receive your plan, decide which materials and options you wish to use, and gather your art supplies, you are all set. Each week you can open your plan and enjoy great art and music!
Our year plans generally include three options for art:
Option One schedules an artist and list of recommended paintings for picture study. All the paintings are found on the internet for easy viewing.
Option Two schedules an art appreciation book and short follow-up activities.
Option Three schedules art postcards and themed coloring books that correspond to the artist or time period.
Plan Overview
The time periods for first and second grades do not have many artists or composers so the plan schedules an overview of artists and composers as an introduction to fine arts study. Please see the overview chart for more detail.
Our year plans include two options for music:
The plan acquaints you with the major composers by offering book suggestions to go along with the listening schedule. You may choose to only follow the plan to listen to the suggested composers.
